[edit] 199th Light Infantry Brigade

The 199th Infantry Brigade trains junior officers and airborne soldiers for the U.S. Army.

HHC, 199th Brigade administratively controls the Maneuver Captains Career Course (MCCC), while the Combined Arms & Tactics Directorate (CATD) academically monitors and supervises the training of captains. HHC also controls Fort Benning's International Student Training Detachment (ISTD) and manages and supports the lives of the international students who participate in training across all Fort Benning schools.

Officer Candidate School falls under the 3rd Battalion, and is a commissioning source for prior enlisted soldiers, and warrant officers in the Army, as well as civilian volunteers with no prior military experience to receive a commission in the U.S. Army. Officers from the Officer Candidate School are commissioned into all branches of the army. The other two major sources are the United States Military Academy and the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Regardless of commissioning source or specialty branch, officers are required to attend Basic Officer Leadership Course II. This is a course designed to teach all officers basic combat tactics and skills. It is a part of the overall "Warrior Ethos" program that was launched in 2003 by the United States Army.

Infantry officers who have completed commissioning and the Basic Officer Leadership Course then attend the Infantry Officer Basic Leadership Course in 2nd battalion. This is a course of instruction, as the name implies, in basic infantry skills, including marksmanship, machine gunnery, tactics, and planning.

The brigade also conducts specialized training for soldiers in Basic Airborne, Pathfinder, and Jumpmaster courses.
