Ransdorp is a part of the stadsdeel (borough) Amsterdam-Noord. The village has about 245 inhabitants.[1]

Ransdorp was a separate municipality until 1921. The village covered the villages of Ransdorp, Durgerdam, Holysloot, and Schellingwoude.[2]

Ransdorp was visited by the American reality television show The Amazing Race 12 (2007). Contestants had to complete Fierljeppen before completing the "leg" at a local yacht club in Durgerdam.
