Onderstepoort is situated in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Its geographical coordinates are 25°39′S 28°11′E / 25.65°S 28.183°E / -25.65; 28.183.

Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute and the faculty of veterinary science of the University of Pretoria, founded by Sir Arnold Theiler, is also situated here. The institute is known for tropical disease research, and the veterinary faculty has strong ties with the Royal College of Veterinary Science in the United Kingdom.
