Northern Baptist Theological Seminary

Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (often shortened to Northern Seminary) is a seminary located in Lombard, Illinois, USA, near Chicago. It was founded in 1913 by the Second Baptist Church of Chicago to prepare students for church leadership.
NBTS is an evangelical Christian school, affirming the authority of Scripture, and emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the mission set forth by Jesus of going forth and spreading the Gospel. It holds full accreditation from North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

The Seminary, having recently received a positive evaluation by the Association of Theological Schools, is in the process of engaging offers to purchase the campus with the goal of developing a new education model that includes multiple learning sites and on-line learning opportunities.

At a recent meeting of the school, current President John Kirn notified the community that offices on the current campus will be moved to Elgin, Illinois during the next year. It is anticipated that the majority of the campus will be sold in the very near future. An announcement is forthcoming. While it is anticipated that classes will still be offered in the community of Lombard, proceeds from the sale of the current property are expected to be reinvested in developing a new educational model. The campus also reports the calling of a new seminary President, Dr. Alistair Brown from Scotland. Assuming that the new President encounters no problems related to immigration matters, it is anticiapted that he will commence in his new position, effective September, 2008. The new model of delivery and vision for the school, developed by the most recent President of the Seminary, will place Northern Seminary in a strategic position for expanding its vision among its constituents.
