Mango (clothing)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mango is a transnational Spanish clothing company based in Barcelona. It has more than 1,000 stores in 92 countries located on five continents (130 points of sale having been added in 2006). Beyond Europe, expansion has gone as far as Egypt, China, the Philippines, Republic of Korea. (Mango also exists in Australia, but is under separate ownership in that country). The company has announced plans to open a store in Iraq, to feature clothing designed by Zuhair Murad, a Lebanese designer who has collaborated with the retailer since 2006.[1]
In April 2007, it was announced that Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica would be designing a 25-piece collection for the chain to include accessories [2]. The move is seen as a competitive counterpoint to the release of Madonna's collection for Swedish rival H&M and Kate Moss's collection for Topshop.
In North America Mango stores operate under the name "MNG by Mango". [3]
