Jhongsing Village is located in Nantou County, Taiwan, and is the seat of the Taiwan Provincial Government. The term "Jhongsing" means "resurgence of prosperity".
It is a new town. With all the buildings owned by the government, development is strictly controlled and carefully planned.
Taipei, which is the de facto capital of the Republic of China, was also the capital of Taiwan province until 1956. The People's Republic of China does not recognise the move of the provincial government from Taipei to Jhongsing Village as legitimate. Thus, the PRC publishes Taipei as the provincial capital on its official maps.[citation needed]
