[edit] Career
Sarpei was with VfL Wolfsburg for six seasons, where he extended his contract until 30 June 2007 in February 2004. The 30-year-old, who had been linked with Premiership side Fulham F.C., can play in either defence or midfield. He joined Wolfsburg in 2001 and made over 130 appearances for the Wolves.
On 18 May 2007, Sarpei moved to German Club Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer and signed a two-year deal with his new team. During the 2006–07 Bundesliga season, Wolfsburg coach Klaus Augenthaler decided not to renew Sarpei's contract, with the Ghanaian delighted to seal a move to the BayArena.
After putting pen-to-paper on the two-year deal, Sarpei revealed to the German media giants Kicker:[1] "It's great news for me. I am full of joy about the move and I am looking forward to playing international football with Bayer next season".[2]
