Gary Vincent Nelson (born 1953) is the present General Secretary[4] of the Canadian Baptist Ministries, Canada.
In 2004, Nelson was made one of the Vice-Presidents[5] of the Baptist World Alliance, Virginia in which his Church Society is a member-body.

Nelson was born in Canada. He pursued a graduate degree in Education (B.Ed.) from the University of British Columbia graduating in 1976[6].
He chose to pursue a priestly vocation and studied M.Div.[6] at the Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California. Since 1979, he began to serve as a Pastor in Canada.
In 1984, Nelson returned to Fuller Theological Seminary and enrolled as a doctoral candidate at the Seminary to pursue D.Min.[6].
The doctoral dissertation submitted to the Seminary in 1987 was entitled "The pre-conditions necessary for evangelism in the urban context : a study on Toronto Baptist Churches"[7].

Nelson provides leadership to the Canadian Baptist Ministries around the world. With the additional responsibility as the Vice-President of the Baptist World Alliance, he tours nations and meets Baptists.
Nelson was the Speaker for the installation seminary of the new President of the Acadia Divinity College, Wolfville on May 10, 2008[8]. Earlier in 2008, he delivered the Graduation Address at Andhra Christian Theological College, Hyderabad in which his Church Society is a participating member[9].

Nelson taught Church Ministry at the Edmonton Baptist Seminary, Edmonton and was also on the Doctoral Committee of St. Stephen's College, Edmonton[10].
Nelson is now Adjunct Professor at the Tyndale University College and Seminary, Toronto. He also oversees programmes at the Carey Theological College, Vancouver.
