Crusade (disambiguation)

A crusade was one of a series of religious wars fought between Roman Catholics, sometimes in alliance with Eastern Christian polities (mainly Byzantium and the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia), and Muslim polities or other enemies.
The word "crusade" is also used vernacularly to signify any struggle for a worthy cause, a meaning that is extruded from the memory of the historical Crusades as seen from the perspective of the Christian partisans. The vernacular is also sometimes used sarcastically, or even as a term of opprobium
