César González Navas (born February 14, 1980 in Madrid) is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for FC Rubin Kazan, as a central defender.
[edit] Football career
Navas was brought through the ranks of hometown Real Madrid, but only played with its B team. He would make his first division debuts in 2004-05, playing two seasons with Málaga CF. His first match was on December 12, 2004, as he played 90 minutes in a 1-0 home success against Levante UD.
In January 2007, Navas left Málaga and the second division and played for six months on loan with league strugglers (eventually relegated) Gimnàstic de Tarragona. After his return to Málaga, he had a trial with English side Ipswich Town, but an eventual deal fell through due to a metatarsal injury. He subsequently joined Racing de Santander.
An habitual starter throughout the first half of 2008-09, Navas was sold, in March 2009, to Russia's FC Rubin Kazan, on a three-year deal worth €3 million.
