- FA Cup – Newcastle United beat Aston Villa 2–0.

- Brownlow Medal awarded for the first time, to Edward Greeves (Geelong).

- March 25 - Montreal Canadiens win their second Stanley Cup, defeating the Calgary Tigers 2 games to 0.
- March - The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defeat the Winnipeg Selkirks 6-3 to win the Allan Cup.
- December 1 - The expansion Boston Bruins and Montreal Maroons of the NHL play their first-ever game against each other at Boston. Boston won the game 2-1. Boston then lost eleven games in a row.
